Launching a New Video Series: “Enterprise Architecture on a Page”

 

For some time, many practitioners have been seeking a research-based yet practical approach to Enterprise Architecture that avoids the need to read thousands of pages of framework documentation. At the same time, organizations still struggle with fundamental questions: How should EA be structured? Which artifacts matter? How do we align architecture work with real business decisions instead of abstract models?

To help address these questions, I am starting a new educational YouTube series dedicated to the “Enterprise Architecture on a Page” (EA on a Page) framework developed by Dr. Svyatoslav Kotusev. This framework condenses the essential aspects of EA into a small set of one‑page views, each grounded in empirical research from more than a hundred organizations rather than theoretical methodology.

What this series will cover

Across the series, each episode will focus on one component of the EA on a Page framework:

1. Introduction to EA on a Page

   • Why this framework was developed and how it differs from traditional EA frameworks.

   • The overall structure: EA Practice, EA Function, EA Artifacts, and EA Maturity on a single integrated view.

2. EA Practice on a Page

   • EA as a collaborative planning practice rather than a methodology.

   • How strategic planning, project implementation, and technology optimization work together in real organizations.​

3. EA Function on a Page

   • How to structure architecture teams and roles (enterprise, solution, technical architects).

   • Vertical specialization (one‑, two‑ and three‑tier functions), horizontal specialization (domain‑centric, business‑centric, combined), and the role of governance bodies.​

4. EA Artifacts on a Page

   • The key types of EA artifacts, their purpose, and how they support decision‑making from strategy to project delivery.

5. EA Maturity on a Page

   • How EA practices evolve over time and how organizations can realistically progress from ad‑hoc architecture to a sustainable, value‑adding EA capability.

Along the way, I will connect these research‑based views with practical examples from my own work in financial services and enterprise architecture leadership, focusing on what actually works in large, complex organizations.
